Audra Almond-Harvey has a mild to moderate crisis each time someone requests a bio from her. Perhaps it is a fear of limiting herself to the space defined by scant paragraphs displayed in stark ink on an event program? Audra may have spent a tad too much time by herself, thinking about the nature of life, the universe, and everything, and this may be bleeding into every sketch, poem, narrative, essay, public reading, painting, bio, etc. that she endeavors to create.
Audra's primary ambition is to create art that either makes you forget reality for a moment or causes you to dissect it and digest it in such specificity you might feel discomfited. She has honed her skills in world-building and storytelling while studying various performance, literary, and exhibiting artistic disciplines for over thirty years. Audra has contributed to, guided, or directed scores of projects with an array of artists; has completed her first book, “Instead of Dying I Wrote this Book”, and is currently working on the follow-up, “A Book of Hours for the End of Time”. She has also worked in community-building for nearly twenty years as one of the founders of local arts nonprofit abrasiveMedia.
Audra resides in Nashville with her husband, progeny, and dog.
