Josie Meiss is a performer, choreographer, and dance educator from Mishawaka, Indiana. After fifteen years of training at Flint’s Dance Studio, Josie continued her studies at Ball State University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a BFA Degree in Dance, Honors College distinction, and a minor in Psychology of Human Development. While there, Josie served as President of the Student Dance Association and Student Director of Dance of the Prism Project, a performing arts program for children with exceptionalities. In 2018, she was the sole recipient of the Joe and Carol Trimmer Award for Outstanding Creative Project for her undergraduate honors thesis, A 21st Century Nutcracker. Since graduating, Josie has participated in the Link Festival, a weeklong festival hosted by Salt Contemporary Dance, the Winter Immersion Projects, a choreographic workshop hosted by Boston Dance Theater, as well as RAD Fest and the Indiana Dance Festival, where she performed works choreographed by Ball State professors. After spending a year in Indianapolis as a dancer/choreographer with Crossroads Dance Indy and a dance instructor at Indy Dance Academy, she relocated to the Nashville area in the autumn of 2019, where she performed with FALL as a guest artist before becoming an official member of the company.
