Lena grew up in Brattleboro, Vermont and received her early training at the Brattleboro School of Dance and Deerfield Academy. Lena danced with Nashville Ballet as a trainee in 2013, and studied contemporary dance and improvisational forms with Banning Bouldin; she continued to train with New Dialect throughout college. Lena graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Kenyon College with High Honors degrees in English and American Studies. She also studied English Literature at Oxford University. At Kenyon, she performed in a full-scale contemporary production of The Bacchae and a notation study of Nijinsky’s Afternoon of a Faune. Her favorite past roles include Queen of the Dryads from Don Quixote and the lead in Balanchine’s Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux; she has also performed contemporary works by Banning Bouldin, Melissa Bowman, Billbob Brown and others. Lena first performed with FALL as a guest artist in 2016, and found a love for FALL’s choreographic process and aerial dance. This is her third season with the company, and her second as Assistant Executive Director.
