As a harpist, vocalist, composer, conductor, and songwriter, Timbre Cierpke is pioneering new sounds in both classical and popular music, drawing from both worlds to create a truly unique sound.
Timbre has recorded and performed with notable artists such as Jack White (White Stripes), Tom Jones, blue-grass legend Ricky Skaggs, as well as rock bands like mewithoutYou and the Chariot, racking up over 50 albums credits so far. As a harpist, she has performed all over the world, including performing her own compositions with full orchestra in cathedrals throughout Scandinavia. She has played harp in over a dozen symphonies, including the London Symphony Orchestra, and is currently the first chair harpist for the Jackson Symphony Orchestra. As a vocalist, Timbre has performed in cathedrals throughout Europe, as well as singing in a premiere of Eric Whitacre’s “City and the Sea” at Carnegie Hall. She is also the Co-Artistic Director of modern a cappella choir SONUS.
Timbre fronts her neoclassical folk-rock band “Timbre”, which has toured extensively in Europe and America. Their most recent album, Sun & Moon, has been called “exquisite” (PopMatters) and “a gorgeous tapestry of audible poetry.” (Earmilk) SputnikMusic said of the album,“If there were ever anything approaching a universal definition for harmonious, or beautiful, it might just be somewhere inside Sun & Moon.” The album was chosen by UNESCO as one of the most important albums of the 2010’s.
